Fractional Sustainability Director
I’m a Fractional Sustainability Director working with manufacturers, construction firms and charities that need senior carbon and sustainability expertise but not a full-time hire.
Most clients come to me because something has landed on their desk: a customer asking for a carbon footprint, a tender that requires a Carbon Reduction Plan, or a compliance deadline such as SECR or ESOS. I take ownership of that, from collecting the data through to the finished report, and then help the leadership team decide what is worth doing next.
My work covers Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprints, SECR and ESOS compliance, Carbon Reduction Plans and pre-qualification questionnaires, product life cycle assessments and EPDs, and UK CBAM.
A recent example is NP Aerospace, the Coventry defence manufacturer, where I produced their SECR report and Carbon Reduction Plan this summer. Adrian Smith, their Director of Compliance, wrote that I was instrumental in “helping our company deliver a comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan under an extremely tight deadline”.
I came to sustainability full-time 5 years ago, after 30 years in commercial roles at the AA and Belron (Autoglass), negotiating supplier contracts and leading projects for clients such as BT, Allianz and Toyota, so I treat carbon as a commercial matter as well as an environmental one. As an Auditel partner I also work on procurement, and the savings we find in energy, fuel and other costs often pay for the carbon work.
I am based in Hampshire and supported by specialists in carbon accounting, life cycle assessment, ESOS and ISO standards.
If you have a client who is being asked about carbon by their customers, lenders or regulators and has nobody to hand it to, I would be glad to have a conversation.
